Huixtan is a Tzotzil Maya town in the southernmost state of Chiapas, Mexico. The community is best known for making traditional garments worn by surrounding communities that showcase finely embroidered flower motifs across the decolletage. The traditional embroidery uses a prestige thread known as "artisela" that is finer than yarn or estambre. Consequently, their most traditional blouses are usually reserved for special occasions.
Due to the intricate embroidery work, we recommend wash on delicate settings, hang to dry, iron on low.
