The Art of Deshilado

Deshilado, literally translated, means “to pull out threads.” Artisans pull the cotton threads from the fabric in a process called "unraveling" and then use the threads to create a romantic, lace-like intricate design. This technique has been perfected by the communities of Aguascalientes in central Mexico and can take up to 5 months to make!
